On October 22nd 2024, Professor Jeffrey Sachs spoke at the Cambridge Union Society. The topic was: “Whether there can ever truly be a liberal international order.” In his opening remarks he said:
We’re all blessedly stuck together on this planet and we’re all going to have pretty much the same outcome - either a good outcome or a disaster.
This echoes a line the Professor then quoted from John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address on January 20, 1961:
The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life.
Sachs’ point is that the West cannot go on with the wars it has been waging because, in a nuclear age, they threaten the very survival of humanity, particularly when those conflicts are between nuclear powers. And the fact that today’s world is so interconnected renders meaningless the notion that there can be winners and losers in any war. We’ll all be losers.
But the part of the speech that has attracted the most attention (because Donald Trump posted it on Truth Social), is when Professor Sachs talks about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s (nee Benzion Mileikowsky) role in designing the 1996 document Clean Break: A new Strategy for Securing the Realm, a strategy for perpetual US war in the Middle East to bring down all governments supportive of the Palestinian cause, i.e., hostile to Israel. Here’s what Sachs had to say:
Where did the Iraq War come from? You know, it’s quite surprising: that war came from Netanyahu, actually… He’s still trying to get us to fight Iran THIS DAY… He’s a deep dark son-of-a-bitch, because he’s gotten us into endless wars.
Seven countries were on the Israeli/US hit list: Libya, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Iran, Somalia and Sudan. Serial war with these counties was official US policy from 2001, starting with Iraq. It was the first because the Deep State thought they had the perfect legal justification - the Iraq Liberation Act which was passed under President Clinton. It signalled America’s intention to overthrow Saddam Hussein. Then along came 9/11 which was the perfect time to act. Benjamin Netanyahu played a cheerleading role and made several cameo appearances before Congress.
But Iraq wasn’t a cakewalk and the US got horribly bogged down. It wasn’t as easy as the neocons thought it would be because they were incapable of comprehending that Middle East wars lead to local instability and insurrection. So the rest of the dominos fell a bit later. Under Obama, Libya, Syria, Pakistan, Iraq, Somalia, Yemen and Sudan were all bombed.
The last domino to fall is Iran. Netanyahu has been on the war path against Iran for at least 30 years. And the Israeli drum beats to attack Iran are escalating. Netanyahu has even tried to get senile Joe Biden in his last days to strike Iran and is jawboning Trump’s incoming administration.
Russian President Putin understands how power works in Washington, DC - “Presidents come and go but politics stay the same at all times.” That’s because of the powerful bureaucracy, the Deep State - infiltrated by the Zionist lobby - that dictates what U.S. presidents must do.
However, I hold out some slim hope that President-elect Trump’s shot across the Deep State’s bows in revealing Netanyahu’s and Israel’s malign influence on US foreign policy, as well as saying he understands that the Ukraine war was about NATO expansion which posed an existential threat to Russia, may indicate a change of direction.
Great Post. Here's hoping 🤞
Deep, dark son of a bitch is putting it nicely. Sh!tbag Netanyahu is actually much worse.
