Asset-stripping accelerates under English Labour
First the UK stole our oil, now our renewables

What did we think was going to happen once English Labour got their hands on power, specifically Scottish power? The £4.3 billion pound subsea cable to transfer 2 gigawatts of Scotland’s renewable electricity from Peterhead in Aberdeenshire to Drax in Yorkshire just received regulatory approval. The BBC notes:
“although the link can carry electricity in both directions, the majority is expected to flow out of Scotland.”
The project, Eastern Green Link 2, was fast-tracked by Ofgem and approved in just 5 months. But the great renewables rip-off won’t stop there. It’s to be followed quickly by the Eastern Green Link 1 running from Torness in East Lothian to Seaham in County Durham, and by links from Peterhead to Lincolnshire, and Kinghorn in Fife to Norfolk.
Since 2017, the 240-mile Western Green Link has cabled 23,000 GWh of Scottish renewables from Hunterston in Ayrshire to the Flintshire Bridge on the border between England and Wales.
The toothless regulator, Ofgem, also announced £295m to upgrade the Yorkshire electricity grid. Meanwhile, Scotland’s only oil refinery at Grangemouth will close because £60-80m can’t be found to fix the hydrocracker which would improve productivity and increase profitability three-fold.
Just as Westminster stole hundreds of billions of pounds worth of Scotland’s oil, it’s doing the same with our renewables. The profits are flowing to corporations and taxes to UK coffers. Scotland won’t see a penny.
And we’ll remain cold and pay Europe’s highest electricity prices when we should be warm and pay the lowest. We’re in this sorry state because we allow another nation to control our assets and our political leaders are too feart to deviate from their designated colonial lane.
Case in point - the Scottish Administration has again published the meaningless GERS accounts that deliberately portray Scotland as a nation of skint imbeciles. This time the hapless John Swinney is actually celebrating a paltry revenue increase but meekly accepts that Scotland has a ‘deficit.’
What will it take to motivate the Scottish People to rise up against this industrial-scale theft and reclaim their land and resources?
It’s way past the moment when the Scottish People should be showing their teeth by insisting that MSPs enact the International Covenant on Civil & Political Rights in Scottish law. Nothing’s stopping them ! That would open the door to meaningful Popular Sovereignty (in other words, “Direct Democracy”) whereby popular initiatives and referendums would allow the Scottish People to stop England raping Scotland.
It's enough to make you weep it really bloody is. I think now you are correct in calling Holyrood an 'administration' rather than a government. Swinney is useless, feckless and if he is celebrating GERS and saying Scotland has a 'deficit' (depends in what context I guess) he is seriously screwing things up for any forward planning for Scotland to escape England's clutches, because the same old lies will be rolled out 24/7 by the BritNats, too small, too poor'. The BritNats' 'too stupid' label however is looking more valid as each day passes. I know the BritGBUK state and their dodgy pals abroad won't let Scotland go without a fight, but to accept GERS as being anything other than a massive ruse, a CON, a scam, is just idiotic in the extreme.
They are coming for Scotland's water next. I despair.
