Jill Stephenson is wrong again
Jill Stephenson is wrong that Russia poses a threat to non-nuclear European nations such as the Baltics and Moldova.
Contrary to the constant stream of western propaganda, Russia has absolutely zero interest in invading any west European nation. However, it DOES have an interest in not having US missile systems or military bases anywhere near its borders, just as the US wouldn’t tolerate Russian missiles or military bases anywhere near its borders.
That’s why after repeated American provocations going back to the 1990s, when Bill Clinton began the disastrous expansion of NATO, Russia acted to prevent Ukraine from joining as it would have resulted in Russia’s complete encirclement by a hostile military alliance.
And Ms Stephenson is wrong that the UK’s leaky, rusty 30-year-old nuclear subs that spew radioactive waste into Scottish waters are a deterrent to her fevered imaginings of “Russian aggression” towards Europe. UK Trident nuclear missiles, designed by Lockheed-Martin, aren’t even serviced in the UK but at the Strategic Weapons Facility Atlantic, at Kings Bay in the American state of Georgia. The UK lapdog does exactly what the US tells it to do because it know that without the US, NATO is a paper tiger.
That’s what’s really unnerving Europe’s leaders, particularly after Trump’s election win. US funding for Project Ukraine, an epic disaster just like all the other US disasters - Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Israel - is coming to an end. And European countries have no capacity to continue pouring money down the Ukrainian rathole.
And look where it’s gotten them. Ms Stephenson, the modern German “historian” should explain why the German government is heading for collapse.
The ‘traffic light’ coalition government has ruined the economy by meekly supporting the US in its proxy war against Russia, including greenlighting the blowing up of the Nordstream pipeline by the CIA that halted delivery of cheap Russian gas that powered German industry.
Germany’s main industrial sectors - automotive, chemical and engineering - are all in crisis. VW is closing factories and a recent study by the Federation of Germany Industries (BDI) warned that 20% of Germany’s industrial output is at risk between now and 2030, primarily due to high energy costs and shrinking demand for German products.
The UK isn’t faring much better. Growth has stagnated, inequality is soaring and people are poorer.
What Europe should do is end its support of the Ukraine disaster, re-engage with Russia, a global power on its doorstep, and get the energy and trade flowing again.
But its pathetic leaders show no signs of doing so, guaranteeing Europe’s continued decline.
I hope that Scotland, should it disentangle itself from the failing UK, will have the wisdom to choose trade and cooperation over war and aggression.
What a terrible mess indeed. The US is the fox in the chicken coop, the world is in deep trouble. I despair.

She doesn’t respond well to criticism and cannot tell us why being in this union is good for Scotland. Like all of her ilk they cannot point to anything that Scotland benefits from in this unequal union. Instead she has a ‘cut n paste’ approach to genuine questions, which are followed by abuse from her and her followers. A thoroughly toxic individual who should not be given the oxygen she requires to spread her bile.
