The second great UK energy heist is well underway
Private corporations rake in billions while Scots are cold and poor
Published in the October 3rd edition of The Edinburgh Evening News.
Ground breaking took place last week for the Eastern Green Link 2, one of four planned undersea cables, the £4.3b one-way energy “superhighway” where Scottish renewables will flow in just one direction - south.
This particular link goes from Peterhead in Aberdeenshire down to Drax in York.
The “superhighway” is a joint project of SSEN Transmission and the National Grid, both private companies. An internet search on each revealed the scale of the theft.
SSEN Transmission is owned 75% by parent company SSE plc and 25% by Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board which paid £1.465b for the 25% stake. Announcing the 2022 sale to the Canadian pension plan, SSEN Managing Director Rob McDonald said:
“With the north of Scotland home to the UK’s greatest resources of renewable electricity we have a critical role to play in helping deliver the UK and Scottish Governments net zero commitments. Our investments will also be key to securing the UK’s future energy independence through enabling the deployment of homegrown, affordable, low carbon power.
Except it’s a lie that this investment will secure UK energy independence or lower costs. The profits aren’t flowing to Scotland or even to England, but to these corporations’ bottom lines and to their international shareholders.
SSEN Transmission’s 2023/2024 profit was £559.1m, and that of its parent company, SSE plc, was £2.495b. Major SSE shareholders, 81% of which are institutional investors, include Barclays Bank, JP Morgan, the Vanguard Group and BlackRock,
and span 26 countries:
The National Grid, which has operations in the US and Europe, had 2024 profits of $4.773 billion - £1.314 billion and £1.152 billion for its UK electricity transmission and distribution businesses, respectively.
Its US and European businesses raked in more than £2 billion.
The second great UK energy heist is well underway and the Scottish administration is letting it happen.
Imagine if instead of this privatised rip-off that’s been foisted onto us, we had a Scottish public energy company and national grid. Rather than maximise profits or reward shareholders, it would invest to maintain and expand the nation’s energy supplies, infrastructure and network. Scots would be warm, enjoy cheap energy, and Scotland would be energy secure and wealthy from exporting its considerable surpluses to its energy-poor southern neighbour for billions.
This could be Scotland’s future but only if the sovereign Scottish People take matters into their own hands.
So angry, I don't want even to repeat what I'm thinking/saying!
This is what happens with SNP 'rolling over' and abdicating even any trace of responsibility of/for protecting the assets/resources of WE SOVEREIGN SCOTS.
Let no one suggest the English Registered NOTlabour Party/ensconced in the Branch Office IN Scotland, have ever done anything different.
They were in power for decades in Scotland and their
"Nation of Registration/Establishment - ENGLAND".
That WE Sovereign Scots have been endlessly betrayed is NOT in question.

setting ourselves free/ridding ourselves of their plundering/pillaging/selling off
Scotland's lands/seas/waterways/resources/etc.
Unless the SNP now find some backbone and join with WE Sovereign Scots, they'll be finished.
We cannot and must not allow this Dereliction of Duty to continue.
Their first priority is to protect Scotland and WE Sovereign Scots.
It is abhorrent and criminal that Kate Forbes/they signed Contracts with the snake/fork-tongued, GOVE on
Freeports/SEZs/Charter Cities,
without consulting We Sovereign Scots, for our APPRROVAL,
which WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN FORTHCOMING.
Freeports Forbes/ScotGov/SNP did NOT and DO NOT have that right.
All those within that Party, who are unionists/devolutionists/etc, must be booted out.
There must be 'grassroots/lower echelons' of the Party, who are ashamed and abhor what that Party has become.
Stand up to the hierarchy and those around them, including that appalling NEC.
If you choose to stand up for the people of Scotland, the people of Scotland will stand with you.
If you don't, you will never again get back all the lost Members/support/votes, mine included.
The stigma of betrayal will deservedly stick to all involved and those further down the ranks,
unless they take a stand NOW!
As for ALL those
ENGLISH REGISTERED 'labour'/tory/libdem/Reform MPs in the BRANCH OFFICES IN Scotland,
never will ANY of the lowlife, receive my vote.
