Thousands in Edinburgh protest UK government complicity in the Zionist entity's genocide
Thousands turned out in the rain for the pro-Palestine demonstration today in Edinburgh. It was organised by the Gaza Genocide Emergency Committee (GGEC) in response to a Declassified UK report on the RAF’s 518 spy flights over Gaza since October 2023.
The protest followed the Starmer regime’s banning of the peaceful protest group Palestine Action on July 2nd. Many attendees held defiant signs: “Genocide in Palestine - Time to Take Action.”
Starting from St Giles, the crowd marched to the UK Government monstrosity, Queen Elizabeth House, to hear several speakers including Tommy Sheppard and Lesley Riddoch.
Then it was on to John Swinney’s official residence at Bute House, where someone positioned the Palestinian flag between the Saltire and Butcher’s Apron.
Speakers included Alba leader Kenny McAskill and a Dundee firefighter whose Fire Brigade Union (FBU) members sourced and refitted a fire engine with medical and firefighting equipment for Palestinian firefighters in the West Bank town of Nablus in July 2024.
The engine, which had all necessary paperwork, was driven from Dundee to Southhampton and shipped to the port of Ashdod where it arrived on 21 July 2024 and was immediately seized by the Zionist entity. Four months later, the engine was still impounded, so the FBU sent a letter to the entity’s UK ambassador demanding its release.
The engine remains impounded as the Zionist entity’s violence against and murder of Palestinians in the West Bank intensifies and its genocide of Gazans grinds on. And what says the UK government? Nothing.
Speakers also mentioned the three women arrested last Tuesday under the Terrorism Act 2000. They drove a van into a perimeter fence around the Edinburgh Leonardo weapons facility. It receives public funding from the Scottish Administration and manufactures laser targeting components for F-35 jets used by the Zionist entity to bomb Gaza.
The women are due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff’s court at 9.30 am this Monday, July 21, and people were encouraged to come support them. Today, I couldn’t help but wonder how different things could be if Scotland were an independent nation, able to project its people’s voices and values onto the world stage, rather than a vassal of a disunited and venal state that is actively supporting the annihilation of an entire people.
The colonial countries have remained in power from the Middle Ages to the present day they are in complete control and at the heart of it all is little England. Capitalism has always been at the heart of colonialism, these capitalist countries have setup organizations that work for them in the past and now no longer work for them in the present day, from the UN, ICJ, to the European union etc.
For me capitalism is about wealth, control, occupation and keeping the educated indoctrinated and making the poor even poorer and thus making them even more dependent on the colonial state. The organizations that work for the colonial powers don't work for them now so they want them to be dismantle and to revert back to the Victorian times to maintain control, let’s remember 50yrs ago they controlled you by what you read and what you were to being told that's no longer the case because of the Internet.
Palestine and Scotland have the same problem and I don't mean the war, we are both living under occupation where the population has no control and our elected officials (SNP) & (Fatah) work hand in hand with the colonial powers. The educated part of the population is indoctrinated by not only the colonial part but also SNP part who is fully controlled by the colonial part thus the colonial part is in full control without the cooperation of the SNP part the colonial part would fail.
I am a poorly educated man age 55, my grammar is shocking and was brought up by the state and yet what is it that I can see being poorly educated that others can't, its simple my thinking process is my own by me and not the state and I'm not indoctrinated by what I'm told by the MSM.
I could point out things that’s been said by Salmond, Jim sellers which for me has BIG question marks around, but what’s in my head I find it hard to put into words on paper and if I could I would be more dangerous to state and its collaborationist government (SNP).
Putin keeps control, not because of is military but because of his police force and it’s the same here in these four nations, but England has complete control entirely and if the Labour government lost control of the police its government would fail.
The war in Palestine started well before October 7th 2023. I’ve changed my viewing habits from the MSM to Aljazeera and if I believe what I’m now being told is true, that the West was told long before Oct 7th about the possible Hamas attack and on the day in question are we truly going to believe that the most surveillance state in world everyone was on a tea break. It’s my belief that what’s happening in Palestine is being done by design and it’s the same method that was used in Scotland in 1707, both are just a smoke screen for not just occupation but annexation, this is what the Treat of Union was all about. Scotland should not attempt to Join the EU, why would we replace one colonial power (England) for another the (EU) we would be better served joining Brics.
Palestine could have a massive voice if it had unity from all its people and it’s the same in Scotland, the collaborators are the destructive force and without them the colonist couldn’t achieve their goals, for me the SNP are public enemy number one and Scotland demise is being achieved by the Scottish government deliberately. Next year’s election isn’t about Independence its about removing the collaborators and when we do this then we can help Palestine.
I agree - the current SNP leadership is acting in collaboration with the UK and hence collaborating in genocide. Swinney must go. I think we still need the SNP as the only viable political party that could gain independence. I can only hope that the rank and file SNP members clean house.
