What Brian Wilson misses....
The Scottish Government is a colonial administration, not a government
What Brian Wilson misses in his verbose anti-Scottish diatribe, is that the Scottish Government isn’t a government at all but a colonial administration tethered to London.
A ‘government’ doesn’t fork over its revenues to another nation that then decides how much to return to the natives – in this case, less than half. Then when the natives can’t manage with this amount, the colonial overlord accuses them of wasting money, lacking vision and creativity.
A government doesn’t let another nation control its economy, making decisions that harm its People and destroy their wellbeing. It, not a foreign nation, has the power to set interest rates, regulate the banks, control all taxation, make investment decisions and create and spend the money required for excellent public services and full employment.
A government doesn’t permit another nation to sell off its land and natural resources to private corporations for profit, leaving nothing for the People to whom these resources belong. It doesn’t allow another nation to shut down its industries, throwing whole communities into poverty and despair.
A government would not let another nation decide with which states it is allowed to trade, destroying its export industries.
A government would not consent to another nation siting nuclear weapons near its largest city and then charging it for the privilege.
A government would not allow another nation to occupy it militarily, remove its indigenous language, suppress its culture, control its institutions and hide and misrepresent its history.
All of this has been done to Scotland while it has been in this ‘voluntary union.’ If the People are sick and tired of it, they have the sovereign power to end the illegal annexation of their country and create and control a real government once again.
I’ve given up on political parties. The People have to organise and take their independence.
