An American Coup

The mainstream media is covering Biden’s ‘decision’ to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race as a selfless act. He’s been called “a patriot of the highest order,” and is deemed to have “made the right decision for our country.” Western leaders are singing from the same hymn sheet. Keir Starmer said,

“President Biden will have made his decision based on what he believes is in the best interests of the American people.”  

I beg to differ. The real reason Biden was made to step aside is not because he’s cognitively impaired (anyone half-conscious knows he’s had dementia for years which begs the question, who has been making the decisions?) but because the DNC’s polling indicates he will lose his shirt against Trump in November along with lots of congressional Democrats. And the party high heids who take their orders from their billionaire donors, can’t have that, so they removed him.

The manner in which this soft coup was executed was sloppy. Biden’s staff learned of the decision on X where Biden posted his letter which wasn’t on White House stationary and had a signature that looked forged.

It’s hard not to see a connection between this coup and the failed attempt to assassinate Donald Trump. Incredibly, the corporate media has tried to normalise the attempt to murder a former president, with some even suggesting Trump himself orchestrated the shooting. And the FBI, Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security, which manages the Secret Service, haven’t held any press conferences.

When questioned by the House Committee on Homeland Security, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle said that the angle of the roof meant that agents couldn’t position counter-snipers in the location of the shooter, which was met with scepticism. She claimed that Trump’s security detail hadn’t requested beefed up security when they had, and then blamed local law enforcement for the failures on July 13th. Tellingly, she refused to reveal the number of shell casings found near the shooter’s body which would confirm whether a second shooter was involved.

Back to the genius donor class and its key role in this ongoing trainwreck. Recall that Biden’s top donors froze $90 million after his debate performance, to force him to step aside. Now their money is flowing to Harris, who is equally unpopular with the American electorate. So, their underlying problem hasn’t been solved.  

It’s telling that Barack Obama hasn’t endorsed Harris, whereas the Clintons have, so there’s some internecine warfare going on between the two powerful factions within the Democratic party. Obama will most likely assume the role of unifier-in-chief after November’s election.

I believe Harris will be the nominee despite her unpopularity because the Democrats want an orderly August convention and to demonstrate party unity. Because everyone assumes she’ll lose to Trump in November, the donors will select a VP candidate that can successfully face off against Republican nominee JD Vance in the forthcoming vice presidential debate and more crucially, in 2028. Some democracy. The founding fathers must be turning in their graves.

Finally, the EU and the UK are in a panic over the unfolding crisis in the US and the prospect of a Trump presidency. Project Ukraine is going badly and Trump is signalling he’ll pull American support for this pointless and devastating war, leaving the Europeans high and dry. They should have considered this before they threw all their eggs into the Ukraine basket, ruining their economies. But sadly, there’s no mature or strategic leadership in Europe. We’re in dangerous and unchartered waters.
