This subject makes me very emotional. Healthcare is a human right. Let us Americans be your warning.

From memory and from a handful of years ago, the US spend on health was around 18+% of GDP. I'm not surprised that they are looking beyond their borders for more easy, rich pickings, difficult to extract more from the US economy.

Yes, the ravenous, bloodsucking beast must be fed. We're in the late stages of this rancid global capitalism. Its end can't come soon enough.

Sadly what happens in the States has a habit of appearing in the UK - these private companies are already ‘circling’ here and even a Labour government is not a safeguard to the NHS

Especially this 'Labour' government.

Thanks Leah. I have seen comments on various platforms from people in the US about how horrendous the 'healthcare' system (not realy a system) is. It sounds cruel, inhumane and in fact in breech of human rights, which you would think extend to right to adequate affordable (free) healthacre. I know that's expecting too much of humans at the top of the ladder.

My family in Australia, who before retirement (early as is poss in Aust'a) have insurance for healthcare, some is free even if on a good income as they are. For the poorest there is free healthcare far as I know. So they have a private insurance system, but nothing as bad as the US's cruel almost barbaric system.

I really hope Scotland escapes the 'UK' before the EngGov manage to completely sell off the NHS in England which will mean a privatised Scottish NHS as well. They EngGov plan a US system, how terrifying. Get out and take back your country Scotland before it's too late.

This is an excellent article from Leah Gunn Barrett and should serve as a 'wake up call' to Scotland. We're sliding into the American health care system already via IT and AI. That @wesstreeting is not only in thrawl to US health care companies but 60% of donations to him come from them. That a @UKLabour government is actively promoting this is shameful. I hope this article gets national coverage.
