Perhaps Labour should try making up a petition or some kind of written investigation about how GOOD Scotland's NHS is.

As a cancer patient, I could tell them about my experiences of very fast referrals, amazingly quick tests, scans & surgery, more than speedy referral to next specialist (oncologist) and the next treatment starting before I even had time to turn around!! I can't keep up with my cancer team! I can honestly say with my hand on my heart - I have NOT had to wait more than a couple of days before being seen, being treated, and always being consulted on next stage. I could do with a real holiday it's all been so quick, so thorough! And always with a view to making me well. From GP to Surgeon to Oncologist, Radiologists, Scan technicians, Blood test nurses, Chemo nurses, Immunotherapy nurses - I cannot complain AT ALL. And I KNOW this - I am not a 'one off'... I've spoken to my fellow cancer patients & they've all to a man/woman said the same - they cannot believe how efficient & timely their treatment has been.

I'm just not prepared to believe labour's nonsense about a poor NHS that is delivering poor services. I've had to use them a LOT, as Chemo has caused me a lot of side affects that I need to deal with. Never have I had to beg for assistance from the NHS! As a service user I say - poor service, untimely service, refusal of treatment, etc. is a LOAD OF OLD HOKUM! I might be persuaded that that happens occasionally. But ON THE WHOLE, it's a load of nonsense to try to make out that Scots NHS is as bad as the other three nations. IT CERTAINLY IS NOT. And they can put THAT in their labour pipes & smoke it!

Kate,

This is such a powerful testimonial. Thank you for sharing your experience with Scotland’s NHS. I’ve only ever had positive encounters since moving here. As an American, I realise how fortunate I am to live where people are taken care of without having to worry about going bankrupt.

Thank you, Leah. I don't usually talk of my health situation. To be honest, I'm not good about sharing personal things, particularly my cancer story. It's just - personal & I just do what I have to, to get through each stage. But for the moment, I'm going to live - other people have it worse than me. Their stories are more important so I leave it to them to discuss - or not. But I just HATE those labour & unionist voters, screaming that the Scottish NHS is every bit as bad as other three nations, when I know for a FACT - it's not. And if I have to discuss my own health issues to prove that its a load of nonsense, I'm prepared to do that!

My health issues have been dealt with so quickly, so expertly, I've had every test I should have, & there has been no question of.. 'Well, we could do this test but its so costly we just don't do it'... I've had every test I needed. Given the type of Breast cancer I have, if it would help, I've gotten the treatment. As I explained, the chemo has left me with some problems that I'm now having to deal with, ie deteriorated joints that means I'm now waiting on surgery on my knees, perhaps also my shoulder joints. But - NEVER ONCE HAVE I HAD TO WORRY about the cost that the cancer treatment, nor any future issues caused by the cancer treatment, will cost. NOT ONE PENNY has exchanged hands between me & my doctor/NHS. Nor will it! UNLESS labour gets into power in Scotland & has the ability to facilitate the selling off of our NHS!

You're absolutely right. Having grown up in Canada, but coming to my home country of birth, I understand exactly what you are saying re cost of treatment. I too am lucky - we as a family have not had to bankrupt ourselves to pay my hospital/treatment bills. I CAN'T IMAGINE what this whole cancer thing would cost me! :-O And the resulting health issues! Makes my head spin to even think about it!! Indeed, I am glad that you too have not had to pay that high price for health issues you have absolutely no control over! And while labour is very obviously selling off more and more of the English NHS, Scotland too will be in much the same positive if we don't stop it - by voting for INDEPENDENCE, so that we have the means to stop the selling of health services to companies worried only about profit! WE MUSTN'T ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN. But we can only stop it with Independence.

But of course that's exactly what labour in Scotland are very worried about, thus what causes them to try trash Scottish NHS at every opportunity! We have to make it clear to Scots exactly what the labour game plan is re NHS. Trouble is - we have no sources of media that can reach the wider expanse of the population that doesn't follow politics, the people who don't watch what labour are up to. How to sort that? I wish we could put out a broad-sheet of sorts. It needn't be more than a double-sided sheet we can leave on buses, in doctors' offices, dentists, anywhere where people are bored & will read even stuff they don't normally read! Anyway... For independence, I'll talk of my health - heck, I'll even talk of my child-birth experiences! Even they didn't cost me a penny! LOL! ;-)

"Because as a branch office, they take orders from their London bosses," to quote Leah Gunn Barrett, and to, thankfully, state that I've not suffered from such a dreadful illness as cancer; however, one of our dearest friends did so; yet, his spirit was absolutely marvellous... He simply declared that he was NOT dying from cancer; he was LIVING WITH cancer.

When someone's attitude is as powerful as that, one can only salute that person's mentality and be thankful for having such respectable examples to learn from!

Undermining the confidence of a colonised people with negative propaganda is to be expected from an imperialist oppressor in the act of plundering a colony of its valuable resources.
