The problem, as usual, is that without the population at large understanding the decision paths involved with the currency issue and their consequences, it is easy to confuse the issue by stating a position on independence and the currency as if it applied across the board to any decision on independence and currency. The population at large hasn't a hope at dissecting this debate given the deliberate, consistent and long term gaslighting they receive from politicians and media alike on economic matters. We must all redouble our efforts to try to explain them in simple terms.

As you rightly point out, the independence parties agree we require our own currency so this is the ground on which any comments on Scottish independence should now be being made.

The professor has not been living under a rock ..he is quite simply a quisling.. a traitor to Scotland.

Firstly we need to get our land back from foreigners..(Polveson) Demand they sell their land back to Scotland till they hold a % of Scotland acceptable to us then tax the hell out of them... while we stop those foreign english now slithering over our border .. 595,000 at last count ..(ref: Believe in Scotland) buying up investments, homes for Abnb or taking advantage of freebies available here but not in their cesspit of a country.

We need our own currency and a Scottish bank This is so obvious.

We need our Army and Police to take an oath of loyalty to Scotland ( did you know a foreign englishwoman is head of Police Scotland)..yes the one who tried to get Scots to pay for her taxi home to Durham.( she said it was an 'error of judgement'.) It was an error of judgement to employ her.... an oath of loyalty to Scotland not a foreign english/german family so called 'royalty'. More like a medieval pantomime. Tragically we PAY for them to pull the wool over our eyes.

We need a BORDER so that the foreign english know where Scotland begins and will need a passport to get in..

We desperately need an honest Scottish media so that the Scots ..at the moment nothing more than 'mushrooms'..(kept in the dark and fed sh*t by the devious foreign english media) are kept informed of what is actually happening in their country. Things like the foreign english government nationalising so called 'british' steel while Grangemouth goes down the toilet.

I have been banned by 'the National' for my views.A foreign englishwoman now resident in the highlands called me a bigot and hoped I choked on my racist bile..If I remember it was foreign england who had race riots last year...not us. She got printed by the National... This is our ONLY independent based media...owned by Sheik Manzour of Abu Dhabi. It's in his investment portfolio. That's Scotland ..just an investment opportunity for foreigners to abuse.

Our oil revenues STOLEN for the benefit of foreign england and they will keep going until our country is sucked dry so the lights stay on in parasitic foreign england. You do know a 'secret' highway of electricity is now being built going straight to foreign england? Then we can buy it back at outrageous prices much higher than foreign england. Our business rates the highest IN THE WORLD. (Ref: Believe in Scotland)(Read McCRONE report)

Now hands up those who voted for a foreign english political party to run our country. I despair.

This is OUR COUNTRY..every blade of grass is OURS and the generations of Scots to come. We are failing them. We need civil disobedience ..out of westminister cesspit..demand payment for all the THEFT of our resources..and tell them to use the Barnett Formula to run foreign england... reeves laughed at Dave Doogan MSP a few days ago..'don't you want the settlement?' she chortled. Boris Johnson (ex Prime Minister) called us 'savages'..a reform candidate called us 'turds that would not flush away'.

Time we looked after OUR weans ,OUR wildlife and OUR LAND. We are NOT a colony.

I am proud to be a SCOTTISH PATRIOT.

It is definitely uncomplimentary but then it happens both ways, Boris Johnson’s scathing comments on the Scots were ignorant and inflammatory. Most folk consider him a crass idiot and rise above it. Others take them on board and retaliate.

It is sad that we still need to teach people, even professors of economics, the basic substance of economics that money has no intrinsic value and that real value in Scotland, as in every other country, comes from its natural resources, its labour force, and its productive capacity.

Scotland is fortunate to have an ample supply of all of these. All it needs is to take political power into the hands of the sovereign Scottish People and organise its economy in their interests. Ronald McDonald should give his attention to that issue instead of peddling nonsense about an international financial system that is on the point of collapse.

Sadly, Better Together's lies did convince 55% of Scots to vote for them. But if those people had had advance knowledge of the next 11 years in the UK, many would've voted differently.

And calling the Scots Jocks, Turds, Savages is ok? The RACE RIOTS in foreign england last year are real blood and soil hatred. I COMPLAINED to the BBC who reported it as Race Riots ACROSS the UK. Which was NOT true.Their reply? Why it was across the UK..end of story. Why was this misreporting important to Scotland? Because other countries were advising their citizens NOT to visIt the UK re race riots across the UK. Bang goes Scotland's tourist industry. And Scotland tarred with foreign english hatred of foreigners. When Scotland gets out of the toxic union the english will be welcome to visit us and spend their money. Just like any other FREE nation that welcomes visitors.

Scotland will have its own currency, Of course the English don’t want that , it will cost them in the long run. By goading Scots on currency they most likely will get what they wished for! Hope so.

I WAS DISAPPOINTED IN BOTH SIDES OF THE REFERENDUM.

I THOUGHT THERE WAS AN ANSWER THAT WOULD SOLVE THE INDEPENDENCE QUESTION - THE CURRENCY ISSUE -

AND THAT IS THAT NOTHING HAPPENS.

SCOTLAND JUST CARRIES ON USING STERLING. I THINK THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN TOTALLY FEASIBLE.

THERE WAS NO NEED FOR AN INDEPENDENT CURRENCY®

THAT WOULDN'T HAVE POSED ANY THREAT OR DIFFICULTY FOR AN INDEPENDENT SCOTLAND AND / SEE ABSOLUTELY NO REASON WHY IT WOULD HAVE

TREFOR

CAUSED A PROBLEM FOR THE BANK OF ENGLAND TO ALLOW BANKS TO CARRY ON FUNCTIONING IN SCOTLAND.

What a load of bullshit. Salmond knew as did the Goverer r of the Bank of England confirmed by the previous governor …Scotland has every right to use sterling. That decision lay with the Governor NOT with Westminster or any English political Party. The Tories exploited the fact Salmond could not argue the point BECAUSE the decision is finally in the GOVERNORS hands. The Governor was not allowed to enter the debate. Sterling is a Scottish currency adopted by other countries…including England. Why wouldn’t Scotland be granted the same privilege? Please get your facts right or prove how anyone could justifiably prevent it.

Sterling is created by the Bank of England which is owned by the UK govt. That is a fact.

So why were the Better Together spreading lies? They have absolutely no say on currency…sterling or otherwise. The Governor of the Bank of England has the last word, still has the last word …and has said numerous times since Scotland can continue to use Sterling if it chooses. A Scottish currency will be preferable.
