I’m sick and tired of the anti-China rhetoric and fear coming from politicians, and it’s really disappointing to see the SNP and Scottish Greens join in on the fear. China is not a bad country, in fact, it’s a fantastic country and we should embrace and support it!

I agree, Gregor. The UK is behaving like the good little lapdog it is and Scotland, as a colonial outpost, is following suit. It is pathetic.

China does not invade or bomb other nations like the US does or the British before it. It has never had an extensive empire. Rather, it interacts with the world through cooperation, investment and trade. The Military Industrial Complex, after the Ukraine debacle which the west has lost, is now stoking a conflict with China over Taiwan. This is utter madness.

A colonized country and its people are "out of the game" internationally and in most other respects. 'We' (Scots) are bystanders in every real sense, no matter whether in matters of war or peace or for the most part even who is given a student place or an academic career in our universities. 'We' (i.e. Scotland) are therefore currently in no position to "embrace and support" any other country until we can first 'embrace and support' oor ain fowk. Only after 'a people' reclaim their sovereignty and become independent will they be able to develop and become 'part of history' again.

Yes it is more likely that Scotland is at risk of interference on many levels from less than democratic regimes which the English government aligns itself with.

However China is not a peace loving equal country, it's no better than any other country on human rights, for their own people or for example the oppression of the Uyghurs. China is definitely not squeaky clean, like so many or even most countries, but S McDonald like all of us are no doubt being watched by all sorts of nefarious oppressive pretendy democratic countries etc, especially where land and/or resources are for the taking. Here is a link hope ok to post, about China, good and bad.

Thanks. My point is that until

Scotland is independent, it can’t have an independent foreign policy - it’s stuck with that of the failing UK. We can surely do better.
