Too many Scots still don't recognise the abuse. If only they could listen to you for a few minutes every day, Leah, they would soon be clamouring for independence. I wish I could make your Substack articles compulsory reading for all independence-supporting politicians, and for all independence-supporting candidates who will be standing for election in the next GE. Conveying that the UK is a failing state is vital if we are to persuade more people that leaving the union is in their own best interests, both for themselves and for their children and grandchildren.
Well, well! Richard Murphy liked your piece so much that he has published it today as a separate topic in his taxresearch.org.uk blogsite. I'm going to post to it now to stress that you are the author of c99% of the piece and deserve all the kudos.
Leah, Child Poverty came up today in Richard Murphy's taxresearch blog. I'd like to reference the youtube video as well as your blog above; would you be OK about that? Your blog piece is a great summation of the huge idealogical and humanitarian gulf between the Scottish Gov't and both of the leading English parties, nether of which is fit to govern the UK.
Danny Dorling is one of the good guys. His books are quite hard hitting and critical of London governments of whatever colour.
I've not yet read it but his most recent book ' Seven Children' gets good reviews in papers like the Guardian. His work is based on statistics for different areas and demonstrates how the effects of poverty and poor housing impact on children's health and education.
