Hi Leah

Prof. Alf Baird has published several authoritative papers on a) the original sell off of Clydeports and Forthports in the 1990s ( which few people seem to even know about ) and b) the complete neglect of the Scottish need for a modern port strategy.

It is time that they had a wider publicity.

Makes me so darned furious and no discussion or sense of an over arching plan for Scotland. Just reactive and to make a quick buck out of selling us to all and sundry. So short sighted!!

So true- the East Lothian use of the Port Seton site is another scandal

Thanks Leah, excellent analysis. I just feel such rage when reading about Scotland's energy resources being taken by the country next door and huge companies in all corners of the globe making huge profits out of Scotland's natiral resources. Grrrr.

I tend to think the English goverment is in effect, sanctioning Scotland by deliberately blocking Scotland from investing in and building energy infrastructure etc, whether it be funding limitations or simply due to the retaining of such powers to the English administration. Scotland is held back as a means of control with the continuing colonisation going on in front of our very eyes. What are the ScotGov going to about it, if anything. sigh.

Alf's idea about Cockenzie sounds really great, but not surprised one bit that the EngGov and their dodgy pals already have plans for that and their fingers in the freebie pie that is Scotland's resources and land. The con that is the UK was signed and delivered in 1707 in a basement in Edinburgh by some grifters at the time, some of whom regretted that decision apparently, while the people of Scotland protested in the streets.

Saor alba.

Reminds me of the refusal of England to allow Scotland to trade with the north American colonies in the 18th century leading to the disastrous union via the doomed Darien project.
